Westleigh
Fore Street, Beer, Seaton, Devon, EX12 3EQ, EnglandDoggy Delights On The Jurassic Coast
Set in the heart of the village of Beer, a short stroll from the beach, Westleigh B&B provides pampering breaks for dogs – and their owners.
There are two guest bedrooms, both dog friendly with a large enough space for any size of dog bed. The Bell Jar has an ensuite shower room, a king sized bed and a welcome tray with ground coffee, teas and home made baked goodies. It’s also got a fridge for dog food, a dog bed suited to the size of your dog, a dog bowl and selection of dog treats. The Stripey Room is similarly appointed but has a private bathroom.
There is a third bedroom but this is only really suitable for one person travelling along with other guests as it would be sharing a bathroom.
Every room is provided with a complementary 2kg bag of Dr John grain free dog food produced by Gilbertson and Page and all bedrooms are cleaned daily.
Downstairs there is a sitting room with a TV, open log fire, comfortable sofa, a selection of books to borrow or swap and plenty of chairs, and there’s a conservatory for the warmer months. The garden isn’t huge but is fully enclosed and escape-proof.
Your host Etta is a Cordon Bleu chef and provides delicious breakfasts. She’s also more than happy to provide evening meals, provided she gets enough notice to buy ingredients; just call in advance and discuss your requirements. She’ll also provide special meals for your dog.
Westleigh B&B suggests:
There are two resident dogs, Romeo and Ted, who are particular experts on dog-friendly local attractions. There’s also a local dog groomer who can pamper your pooch but be warned, she’s often booked up so you need to make your grooming appointment three weeks ahead. Dog sitters can also be arranged. Westleigh is very popular with fossil hunters fossicking the Jurassic Coast and walkers stopping off along the South West Coast Path.
Due to Westleigh’s dog-friendly philosophy unfortunately this B&B is not suitable for small children.

"From arrival to the last day, our host Etta made us very welcome. We enjoyed local strolls on the beach with our two dogs and did some more serious hiking over our stay, working up a good appetite in the process. The meals Etta prepared were superb we didn’t bother going anywhere else. We ate in the lovely conservatory during our whole stay with our two dogs having easy access to the garden making for a very relaxed stay. Overall a fantastic experience."
