Overlooking the Vale of Clwyd in Denbighshire, the gardens surrounding Firgrove are a blend of exotic, colourful and inspired planting that will delight gardening enthusiasts and non-gardeners alike. The house itself is a Grade II listed Georgian gem and home since the mid-1980s to your hosts Philip and Anna.

The graciousness of a bygone era overlays brightly decorated rooms furnished with antiques, collectibles, art, and photographs, while from every window there are views of the garden and countryside beyond. One guest room is in the main house whilst the second – The Cottage Suite – has a separate entrance and a sitting room with a fire. Everything a Wolsey Lodge guest could wish for in a B&B has been thought of right down to the home-made cakes on your arrival.

Dining here is a pleasure with a menu offering local, seasonal Welsh produce all cooked to perfection, alongside a fine wine selection and enjoyed in a relaxed and exceptionally friendly atmosphere. Breakfast features a medley of continental as well as traditional cooked options which, together with Philip and Anna’s intimate knowledge of the best places to visit, really will set you up for the day ahead during your stay.

Breakfast is served in the house with a buffet and a choice of a freshly cooked selection.

Evening meals are available with 48 hours notice. There is a choice from a three course menu and most diets can be catered for. Please advise when booking. Philip and Anna join their guests for dinner and you are welcome to bring your own wine to accompany your meal.

Location

Firgrove is perfectly located in Llanfwrog, near Ruthin in Denbighshire in North East Wales, on the edge of The Vale of Clwyd, an ideal area for walking, exploring, bird watching, cycling and shopping. Ruthin has many independent shops and eateries and its Craft Centre. Llangollen with its festivals and steam railway, with the nearby awe-inspiring Pont Cysyllte aquaduct are only a short drive away over the spectacular Horse Shoe Pass. Roman Chester and its famous ‘Rows’, Llandudno and Llandegla Forest are all within reach. There are lots of historic castles and houses in the area, many with beautiful gardens. Snowdonia National park is close by. There is a lot to see and do.
